it's been a while

Long time no post

well

Since i last posted i've been busy in some respects and not busy in others.

I've been lovingly monitoring my homebrew both in the barrel, and now i've bottled it. Having read quite a few forums i was quite prepared for a bit of a troublesome time when it came to bottling my beer. In the end it went very smoothly. I lugged the barrel downstairs and set it on the worktop in the kitchen. I then sterilised my bottles in a water/bleach combo having already run them through the dishwasher. when ready to go, i set my bucket underneath the barrel, with the tube attached.
I rinsed out 3-5 bottles at a time and filled straight away. I then placed a sterilised cap on top and finished my mini batch. Once i had 5 bottles i capped them off with the machine and moved to the living room. Then i did another batch.

I did quite well not too lose too much beer from overfilling bottle. because i only had a tube and the tap on the barrel it was tricky but i found the way around that was to kink the tube and fill a section then release into the bottle and the flow was good.
My eye for when the bottle was full was ok, aided by the sunny weather brightening the kitchen.
It's now conditioned at room temp. for 10-11 days and is now under the stairs. I hope it's cool enough under there!
I tried some one week after bottling and it's pretty good. It's going to improve with age i'm told!
I've callled it flinty osciloscope (sp) : two words randomly taken from the dictionary. I like that name!

Next on the agenda is elderflower champagne and raspberry gin. Ooh!

May has been a bad month for me exercise wise. with the two bank holidays i've missed 2 sessions of my core class and a trip to france threw another out the window. I've also needed to use a lot of my lunchtimes to head into town for various reasons so have not been to the gym much.

The trip to france was good in respect to getting away from the office and doing very little. I read at least one book a day which shows our lack of activity!
i've felt like i lost a hand recently. My phone broke so it's been fixed. I'm so surprised that the lack of my month old phone would throw me out so much. I guess it shows how much i've taken to it. In fact i am writing this blog post on the phone now!
It's also allowed me to 'embrace' twitter and i'm really enjoying it so far. In general i seem to love the e71 and all the techy geeky stuff i can do with it!

As i say i haven't done much exercise in may, but thursday saw me get right back on that horse! I did the usual gym session, plus a cycle to jordan hill and 5 a side football. I found out yesterday night that my cycle up is 3.2 miles so that times 2 plus nearly 2 hours of football really does knacker me out!

But it's good fun, i enjoy it and i feel better afterwards!

Bring on the summer
